FIVE33′s Friday Fix

More a Friday Fix-ette from Team FIVE33 this week.

First up is a real game changer!

Microsoft KINECT hit the streets of London yesterday as Selfridges unveiled their Christmas windows, one of which features people playing the new KINECT range of games.

KINECT launches on November 10th for theXbox360, and uses motion sensing technology to track the player’s movement, allowing them to use their entire body to interact with the action on the screen… YOU are the controller.

A first taste of the long-awaited soundtrack for TRON LEGACY by Daft Punk hit the net this week. Movie soundtracks don’t get much cooler than this – our copy is already on pre-order but if you’re yet to experience it . . .

We couldn’t bring you a blog today without mentioning Halloween.

A few ghoulishly good things have caught our eye this year but we are (grave)digging ‘Dalston Chainsaw Massacre’ courtesy of the fabulous WAH NAILS and BLEACH LONDON.

A full Halloween makeover to transform you into one of your favourite un-dead celebrities (We’re torn between Cheryl Troll and Lady Carcass)

Accompanied by a nail-bitingly good manicure from the frighteningly talented WAH team:

One last ghoulish treat for you, as AMC prepares to launch its Zombie Series The Walking Dead, check out this superb fan-made title sequence for the show. Far cooler than the ACTUAL titles, and accompanied by a slice of Eels darkness, this is making some serious bumps in the night…

Okay, we’re off Trick or Treating . . . if you hear a knock at the door – hide.

Just hide.

FIVE33′s Friday Fix

We’ve certainly been clocking up the air-miles this week, with numerous team members flying back and forth across the Atlantic (the things we’ll do in search of sunshine!) but you’ll be pleased to hear that even temperamental time zones can’t stop the FIVE33 Friday Fix!

Let’s do this (cue conga pattern and wah-wah guitar chase music).

In anticipation of the release of the impossibly cool Tron Legacy (a film dear to our digital hearts – check out our work with the Tron Light Cycle here), Marvel will be releasing a number of comic book covers featuring Tronified versions of some of our favourite super heroes. Captain America never looked better!

We are always on the lookout for vintage materials being given a futuristic twist, and these incredibly simple but beautiful mannequin shots caught our eye in the latest edition of AnOther Man.

This weekend we’ll be doing our best to get down to Downtown57, a solo show by London based graphic artist Ashes57. The exhibition is part of PUMA 365, a project that encourages collaborations with like-minded upcoming talents. All kinds of cool.

The British musical institution that is Q Magazine will be revealing the winners of the Q Awards on Monday (October 25).

We are most excited about the ‘Next Big Thing’ category, always a hotbed of new talent and new sounds.

The nominees are:

Alice Gold
Clare MaGuire
Esben And The Witch
Fenech-Soler
Mona
Murray James

Our favourites are the ultra cool boys from Mona:

Though Alice Gold is also one to watch!

Last, and by no means least, the London office says ‘adieu’, ‘bon voyage’ and ‘Missing you already’ to the one and only Mr Ian Mackley.

Ian is off to our Venice Beach office next week to join the team there – London’s loss is most certainly LA’s gain!

That’s Friday Fixed. See you next week, true believers!

FIVE33′s Friday Fix

Friday’s here again… ready to get fixed?

London played host to an explosion of the cool and the beautiful with the annual Frieze Art Fair.

Located in Regents Park and featuring over 170 new and established artists, the fair runs until Sunday (17th Oct). Whether you are interested in buying a hot new piece of the future or just looking, it’s well worth checking out.

Anyone who’s visited one of our studios will be well aware of our slight obsession with a certain carbonated beverage (served so cold it hurts), so imagine our joy when we found out that jewellery designer Johnny Rocket has launched a Diet Coke Crystal Collection exclusive to our favourite London Department Store Selfridges. We are seriously considering having some bottles personalised with FIVE33 – we’ll keep you posted!

The Fashion Weeks may have come and gone for another year, but we had to show you these . . .

Printemps is as always home to some of Paris’ best window displays and they took a bite out of the Big Apple during Paris Fashion week with a homage to quintessential Americana. Paris *hearts* New York!

We love them all but the best one has to be the DVF window featuring our favourite mouse!

This week the campaign got underway for the two-part Harry Potter finale, with an ultra-dark character one-sheet series. We couldn’t let these magical (ahem) pictures of Daniel Radcliffe for Dazed and Confused pass by without comment. This shoot shows a totally new side of Daniel.

Potter never looked Hotter! (Ba Dum Tish).

It’s Friday, it’s almost the weekend and you can’t start the weekend without… CHOONS! This week we thought we’d spoil you with 3 videos. It’s okay, you can pay us back later.

Geeks don’t come much more chic than California artist Mayer Hawthorne. Blending the funkadelic Hip-Hop of early Snoop with a sweet soul voice, he’s one to watch. Check out this chilled out tune ‘Maybe So, Maybe No’. We can’t think of a better track to capture the vibrant energy of our Venice Studio – at times, literally – at 0:56 you’ll get a little glimpse of FIVE33 Entertainment! Mayer, if we’d known, we would have worked up some dance moves.

This video for the Midnight Juggernauts song ‘Lara Vs The Savage Pack’ is a beautifully intricate piece of stop-frame animation using over 2,000 sheets of printed paper. This is one paper cut that feels gooood.

And finally, our obsession with the new Mark Ronson and the Business International album continues. Great to see our favourite track ‘Somebody To Love Me’ getting released as the third single…  (It’s so new that you can only view it by clicking on the link below!) Enjoy.

Somebody To Love Me

Consider this Friday fixed. Now go get into some trouble, and we’ll see you in seven.
