LONDON'S CHRISTMAS CAROL LIGHTS
Bringing the atmosphere and festivity of Disney's A Christmas Carol to the centre of London's West End wasn't easy — but was a huge success.
The brief and the concept were ambitious — to bring Scrooge's wild thrill ride to the bustling streets of one of the world's shopping capitals, as part of a lighting display that would dominate the London Christmas lights, and be just as eye catching during daylight as they would lit up at night.
This was a hugely ambitious installation, and the largest character lightboxes the London Christmas lights have ever seen. The Scrooge showcase pieces measured 3 metres across, with hand crafted crystal acrylic lettering, environmental low voltage LED lighting and a range of coloured bulbs that ensured the colour palette of the film was reflected perfectly.
The placement of the lights was also key, with the design and placement building a narrative down London's central thoroughfare and really giving the effect that Scrooge was flying.
Working closely with Disney to ensure that we remained true to the spirit of the character whilst delivering something that felt fresh and new, the overwhelming response was that Scrooge was brought to life in a way no one had seen before.
