DISNEY'S A CHRISTMAS CAROL LIGHTS UP LONDON
Disney's A Christmas Carol is a thrilling new telling of Dickens' spooky festive classic ... and FIVE33 were commissioned with spreading its message of goodwill to all men (and women)! this holiday season.
FIVE33 took over the iconic Christmas lights of London's West End, delivering the biggest illuminated characters ever installed in this bustling shopping destination.
The traditional Victorian Christmas theme made the towering image of Ebenezer Scrooge look right at home overlooking the streets that are his home, and our signature displays make an unmissable impact at key junctions and tourist landmarks.
So authentic, they even feature working gas-lamps - straight out of Dickensian London!
With the lighting designed and installed, the stage was set for the big reveal - but who would turn the lights on, officially kicking off the holiday season? Who else but the stars of the film - Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins and the new king of Humbug himself, Jim Carrey - alongside the master of modern digital cinema, director Robert Zemeckis.
The centre of London came to a standstill as thousands of fans gathered beneath a crisp full moon to see the lights come to life. In a global broadcast that linked Oxford Street, Regents Street and St Paul's Cathedral, the final countdown was a hugely emotional moment for all of us that worked on this ambitious project, but also for London - A Christmas Carol marking the return of one of the city's most beloved stories, and a World Premiere on a scale the capital has not seen for a long time.
The lights did not disappoint, with thousands of cheers ringing out, followed by Carol Singing in a world-record breaking rendition of 'Silent Night,' led by Andrea Bocelli.
The climax of the night was of course Disney's grand unveiling of the new movie to an excited audience in Leicester Square - the perfect end to a very special night.
Merry Christmas, everyone!
